Following a review by the government's competition watchdog, Amazon has been given the all-clear to acquire a business that manufactures robotic vacuum cleaners.
The Competition and Markets Authority called off the online giant's attempt to acquire iRobot, the company that makes the Roomba vacuum, in August of last year.
The watchdog investigated whether the acquisition would give Amazon an unfair advantage over its rivals.
However, it declared on Friday that the merger might go through.
The CMA determined that iRobot's position in the UK market was "modest" and that it already had a number of sizable competitors.
Furthermore, it came to the conclusion that the UK market for robot vacuum cleaners was small and wasn't anticipated to expand significantly in the coming years.
Amazon will be able to expand its operations for smart home appliances thanks to the $1.7bn (£1.4bn) deal.
Some Roomba models can be purchased for as much as £899 in the UK.
