An energy rate has been cut in half, according to a baker who was on the verge of closing his doors due to rising costs.
The BBC was informed by Andy Cole from The Bakery in Felixstowe, Suffolk, that his monthly expenses had increased from £800 to $6,500.
However, he claimed that Smartest Energy has cut his rate in half since BBC Radio Suffolk broke the news of the 700 percent increase and the possible closure of the store.
For a comment, the BBC has contacted Smartest Energy.
Since opening his bakery on Hamilton Road 12 years ago, Mr. Cole has claimed to be charged up to 80p per unit.
He claimed that the energy company had dropped it to 40p per unit.
Despite being happy to have his rate reduced, Mr. Cole said the cost was still higher than it had been, and he would have to raise his prices to make up the difference.
We've been delaying raising the prices, but they will do so in the next day or two, he said, adding that it must be a significant increase.
He expressed hope for his clients' comprehension.
