Tweeting about the social media company, Linda Yaccarino reveals her plans

Twitter's new CEO, Linda Yaccarino

The plans for "Twitter 2.0" have been revealed by Twitter's new CEO, Linda Yaccarino. ", after succeeding Elon Musk a week ago.

She claims that the business is "on a mission to become the most reliable real-time information source in the world.".

Twitter has come under fire for how it handles disinformation ever since Mr. Musk purchased the company last year.

The company has recently lost its director of trust and safety and left the EU's anti-disinformation code.

Ms. Yaccarino echoed Mr. Musk's objective that Twitter must become the "global town square" in a series of tweets that were also forwarded to staff members.

According to her, doing so would "drive civilisation forward through the unfiltered exchange of information and open dialogue about the issues that matter most to us. ".

With regard to Twitter's content moderation policies, Mr. Musk, a self-described "free speech absolutist," has argued that it should be a genuine forum for free speech.

Advertisers have left as a result of his efforts to restore right-wing accounts whose viewpoints he shares and to relax moderation. Revenue reportedly decreased by 40% in comparison to a year ago in December.

Since spending $44 billion (£35 point 1 billion) to acquire Twitter last year, Elon Musk has been under pressure to find a new CEO so that he can concentrate on his other companies, such as electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla and rocket company SpaceX.

The announcement that Ms. Yaccarino would succeed Mr. Musk as Twitter's CEO in six weeks was made on May 12 by Mr. Musk, who recently reclaimed the title of the world's richest person.

Just a few days after the firm's head of trust and safety resigned, she assumed her new position earlier than anticipated.

Ms. Yaccarino is credited with guiding media giant NBCUniversal through the disruption in the sector brought on by evolving technology.

In her previous position, she reorganized the company's advertising sales department and was responsible for the 2020 launch of its Peacock ad-supported streaming platform.

While Mr. Musk continues in his roles as executive chairman and chief technology officer of the struggling company, she is now in charge of Twitter's business operations.
