To buck the post-pandemic closure trend, a town's cinema has been reopened after more than 50 years.
In Salisbury, the former Regal movie theater reopened on Friday as an Everyman.
Along with Covid-19's aftereffects, the cost-of-living crisis and the rising popularity of streaming services have been difficult for theaters.
The Everyman's manager, Phil Bendall, disagreed, saying: "I think we're seeing people come back - they want that experience, they want that night out. ".
The Regal had its grand opening in 1936 before being closed and turned into a bingo parlor in 1969.
Following the bingo hall's closure in 2021, plans to transform the structure back into a movie theater started to take shape.
Because the new red neon signage is so similar to the former Regal signage, local historian Frogg Moody said, "it's almost like going full circle.".
Additionally, the original screen has been revived, and guests can watch movies while lounging on sofas.
As opposed to a theater, "we very much see ourselves as a hospitality venue that will show films," Mr. Bendall said.
"Therefore, the entire experience, from the moment you walk through the door to arriving at your comfortable sofa and having your order taken there – the full bar, the food offering – before you can kick back and relax and enjoy the feature film.
"We think Salisbury is a fantastic location for us and we're thrilled to breathe new life into this old movie theater.
