Mel C has stated that the Spice Girls would like to reunite to perform at Glastonbury Festival the following year.
On Saturday night at the Avalon Stage, the singer made her official Worthy Farm debut by performing both solo material and some of the hits from her former band.
When asked if they would agree to take part in the now-customary Sunday afternoon legends slot, she replied in the affirmative.
She admitted to Matt Everitt of BBC Radio 6 Music that "all of the Spice Girls would like to play Glasto.".
When performing a few Spice Girls songs for the audience on Saturday night, I jokingly remarked, "A little warm-up for next year?
They have practiced, are prepared, and are familiar with the lines. " She went on. Therefore, if I can get the other girls to follow. I advise you to "drag" the other girls along. all . That is the reality if the Spice Girls wanted to perform at Glasto.
"It just takes getting everything together at the right time. ".
And some of the girls haven't been on stage in years, so it's quite intimidating, she continued.
"However, in my opinion, performing at Glastonbury is the pinnacle of being an artist—that's why we call it the bucket list. ".
She performed as a DJ at Glastonbury last year and shared the stage with the indie band Blossoms for a performance of Spice Up Your Life. She was formerly known as Sporty Spice.
She last performed at Wembley Stadium in 2019 with her chart-topping group, which is best known for the singles Wannabe and Stop. Since then, the group has been dormant.
She argued that while they were in their heyday in the 1990s, festivals like Glastonbury weren't really venues for pop acts, but that things had changed since then.
People are always surprised to learn that I attended Glasto for the first time, she said. Of course, festivals were very different back in the 1990s; a band like the Spice Girls would never have performed at one.
"I believe that V Festival in 1999 was my first festival performance as a solo artist. I've never gotten up there before with my band and performed.
"We had an incredible crowd, and it just felt like such a privilege because I got a reaction that made it seem like there were four Spice Girls standing next to me. ".
Even though the audience sang some of her solo material "word for word," she noticed that the response was especially enthusiastic when she performed the hits from her previous band, like Who Do You Think You Are?
She grinned, "Love them or hate him, everyone remembers the Spice Girls.".
The Spice Girls would succeed Yusuf aka Cat Stevens and Blondie, who will share responsibility for the now customary fourth headline slot later on Sunday, if the offer from festival organizers Emily and Michael Eavis to fill the 2024 legends slot is accepted.
