After undergoing surgery for breast cancer, Amy Dowden of Strictly Come Dancing provided fans with good news.

After beginning her cancer treatment on Thursday, the 32-year-old shared a message on Instagram about how her surgery went.

The Caerphilly-born dancer revealed last month that she had been given a grade three breast cancer diagnosis.

On social media, she received well wishes from co-stars and followers.

Step one to beating cancer! Rrrrrrrready for this fight and more determined than ever to return to the dancefloor, Amy wrote in an Instagram post published on Wednesday afternoon.

Then, fans, friends, and other Strictly stars started leaving comments.

Sending you all the love today, Tom Fletcher, one of her former show partners, wrote. Behind you are us Fletchers. ".

You got this, said co-star Gorka Márquez, while Dianne Buswell chimed in that she was "sending all that energy your way, my love.".

Additionally supporting comments were made by Stacey Dooley, Zoe Ball, and Helen Skelton.

Amy updated her Instagram story on Thursday, thanking the doctors and nurses who she described as "utterly amazing" and stating that her surgery had gone well.

In a recent Instagram story, Amy expressed her gratitude to the medical staff who cared for her.

The celebrity, a Strictly Come Dancing professional since 2017, made her breast cancer diagnosis public in May.

Amy has stated that she wants to return to the dance floor. She is seen here performing on Strictly Come Dancing with contestant JJ Chalmers.

Amy, who has long worked to raise awareness of Crohn's disease, expressed her hope that disclosing her condition would both aid in the healing of others and herself.

She said at the time, "I'm going to get through this if I can try to turn this negative into a positive.".

The dancer found the lump in April, the day before she was scheduled to leave for her honeymoon with husband Ben in the Maldives.

Amy recalled feeling a hard lump in her right breast while in the shower.

"I was shocked. I double-checked. I reasoned, "Well, it might just be period-related, or so many other things. I made the decision to keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks. ".

She claimed that one of her initial considerations was how long it would take her to return to the dance floor.

In her most recent post, the celebrity thanked followers for their support but did not go into great detail about her treatment regimen.
