Byker Grove, a television series that once starred Ant and Dec, will return.
From 1989 to 2006, the BBC broadcast a children's series with a Newcastle setting that followed the lives of kids who attended the same-named youth club.
As PJ and Duncan, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly achieved fame.
The two, who will serve as executive producers for the reboot, expressed their "outrageous excitement.".
According to the production company Fulwell 73, the show, which will go by the shorter name of Byker, will be directed "at a primetime audience" and "engage with a new generation of teenagers navigating the different challenges faced by young adults today.".
The show, which helped launch the careers of Donna Air, Jill Halfpenny, and Andrew Hayden-Smith, has not yet been confirmed for BBC broadcast, nor has it been specified when filming will start.
The North East and the talent the area has to offer, both in front of and behind the camera, will be highlighted, according to Donnelly.
We are beyond thrilled, and Byker Grove will always hold a special place in our hearts as the program that gave us our big break.
"We are excited to introduce this new iteration to both those who remember it fondly and to a whole new generation. ".
Benwell Towers in Newcastle served as "The Grove's" original shooting location.
- written by Adele Rose, a writer for Coronation Street, and Andrea Wonfor.
- The debut episode aired on November 8th, 1989.
- With a Newcastle setting and uncommon television accents, it became popular right away.
- Kane Gang composed the theme music.
- 18 series in total, ending in 2006.
- launched the careers of a number of celebrities, including Donna Air, Jill Halfpenny, Andrew Hayden-Smith, and Ant and Dec.
The two "owe so much to Byker Grove and the North East so we can't wait to start working to bring this iconic series back to life," McPartlin, whose character PJ famously was accidentally blinded during a paintball fight in one episode, said.
We're all excited about the potential outcomes because we're already talking about characters and storylines, he continued.
The series will be produced by Ant and Dec's Mitre Studios, which creates Saturday Night Takeaway, and Fulwell 73, a company based in the North East and the team behind Friends: The Reunion.
