The cost of living crisis was cited as the reason behind the cancellation of a new music festival in Essex with two months' notice.
The Hideaway Festival at Crix near Chelmsford was scheduled to feature performances by artists like Bastille, James Bay, Clean Bandit, Texas, and Freya Ridings.
During the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the organizer also made an effort to launch it.
The festival stated that "the entire team is extremely saddened" in a statement.
The current cost of living crisis and rising production costs are just two of the many difficulties we have faced, according to a spokesperson.
"Despite our best efforts, we are unable to cover the costs involved with putting on an excellent event of such a size. ".
The event was slated to take place from August 4–6, and according to the spokesperson, all customers would get refunds.
The organizer stated that the early bird and tier one tickets were sold out on its Twitter page on April 25 and that the other packages were almost sold out.
The festival, which promoted itself as a family-friendly occasion, provided glamping options and permitted customers to make payments over time.
Early bird tickets for a single day ranged in price, but they cost £60.
