Welsh musicians are preparing to rock the renowned festival this weekend, bringing with them a taste of Wales to Glastonbury.
The lineup for the festival in 2023 includes 18 Welsh acts, including Manic Street Preachers and the Welsh-language bands Gwenno, Ani Glass, and Adwaith.
The member of Adwaith, Gwenllian Anthony, said they are "overwhelmed but excited" to play again.
Huw Stephens, a music journalist, predicted that the 38th Glastonbury festival would highlight the "strength of the music scene in Wales.".
Just one year after performing on the BBC Music Introducing Stage, post-punk Carmarthen band Adwaith will return to the festival.
Being asked back, according to bassist Gwenllian, was "bonkers," and when she learned the news, she went "a bit crazy in the shop" where she was gathering new guitars.
I just felt like such a rockstar, the woman remarked.
It's uncommon for bands to perform two years in a row, so we weren't prepared for it.
Since Welsh artists are frequently ignored by major festivals, she said, it was really nice to see so many of them.
"Hopefully, each year we'll get to see more and more. ".
Welsh and Cornish are the native languages of Ani Glass, a Cardiff-based electronic pop artist (real name Ani Saunders), as well as Gwenno, a Mercury Prize nominee who will also perform at the festival this year.
She claimed there had been a lot of anxiety leading up to the festival.
She explained, "I've been practicing so much because I've had a lot of gigs recently.
Glass, who will perform on The Toad Hall Stage on Sunday at 17:15 BST, expressed his appreciation for seeing fellow Welsh musicians' names on the lineup posters for the festival.
She is also happy to be performing in the solar- and off-grid-powered performance space.
It's kind of like the original Glastonbury festival ethos, she said.
Because attending festivals can have a significant negative impact on the environment, it is nice to see representation of this aspect of festival-going. ".
Glass expressed her delight at sharing a performance date with her sister and expressed the hope that they could attend each other's sets.
Manic Street Preachers, meanwhile, will play their sixth Glastonbury concert this year.
On Saturday at 18:45 BST, the rock group will perform on The Other Stage.
Huw Stephens, who will be reporting live from the festival for the BBC iPlayer and BBC6 Music, said: "It's fantastic that there are so many Welsh artists on the bill, on all the different stages.
"Glastonbury always has a really interesting lineup, and it's great to see all those different Welsh artists there. The display is absolutely amazing. ".
For musicians, performing at Glastonbury can be "life changing" and "a once in a lifetime thing," according to Stephens.
People often have aspirations of visiting Glastonbury, but performing there is a true accomplishment and moment of excitement, he said.
"They'll always remember it.
