Lady Leshurr will take Reece Parkinson's place at BBC Radio 1Xtra

Parkinson, Reece

Seven years after joining as an intern, drive-time presenter Reece Parkinson is leaving BBC Radio 1Xtra.

Before taking over from MistaJam in 2020, the DJ advanced through the ranks and hosted a weekend show.

He claimed that his time spent working at the station had "changed his life.".

The station has announced a significant schedule reorganization and has also replaced Lady Leshurr, who is scheduled to go on trial for allegedly assaulting her ex-girlfriend.

Since being charged in October, the 35-year-old Birmingham native has been off the air during her Saturday afternoon slot.

She will stand trial later this year on two counts of assault resulting in actual bodily harm. She disputes the accusations.

In addition to hosting the station's flagship news and current affairs program, 1Xtra Talks, Reece joined 1Xtra in 2016 and began hosting the Weekend Breakfast Show.

He began his ultramarathon training for a Newsbeat documentary the same year he landed the drive-time job.

The DJ was forced to withdraw after receiving a type 1 diabetes diagnosis just days before the race. However, he resumed training six months later and finished a torturous 50-mile race.

"I've fulfilled my intention of bringing positivity and light to the audience," Reece claimed of his time at 1Xtra.

Now I'm so eager to go and create more life-changing experiences at scale in my next project, he exclaimed.

The coveted 16:00–19:00 time slot will be filled by Remi Burgz, who joined 1Xtra in 2021.

"I can't believe I've been trusted to continue this amazing slot," she said, expressing her gratitude for the chance.

"Reece Parkinson left behind big shoes to fill, but I'm up for the challenge.". ".

Lady Leshurr
Since being accused of assault, Lady Leshurr has been off the air.

Joelah Noble will host the show on Saturday from 13:00 to 16:00 instead of Lady Leshurr.

Joelah, who served as the official host of a behind-the-scenes YouTube show in the wake of the Lionesses' victory at Euro 2022 last summer, described the new program as a "dream.".

She said, "Having my own slot is a dream because radio is one of my favorite things ever.

When Kaylee Golding fills in for Remi from 13:00 to 16:00, the station will also host its first show on a weekday to originate outside of London.

Being able to broadcast from her hometown of Birmingham, according to Kaylee, makes her feel "super excited.".

New 1Xtra line-up
Beginning on April 3, a new 1Xtra lineup will be in place.

The schedule modifications would take effect starting on April 3, according to Faron McKenzie, head of station for 1Xtra.

He said, "As a native of Birmingham, I'm so proud to be fulfilling that promise and bringing 1Xtra to such an amazing and diverse city.

"I can't wait to see Kaylee represent, make new connections, and bring her upbeat, Brummie energy to 1Xtra afternoons.

Reece will be "missed by all at the network and we wish him the best of luck in his exciting new projects," the speaker said.

"Remi has also developed an amazing bond with our listeners in such a short period of time, demonstrating her status as a broadcasting superstar.

"Top it off, Joelah is prepared to get started right away on her new show, and she is ideal for Saturday afternoons with her positive, warm, and friendly vibes. ".
