Glitz. Glamour. Criticism. It seems like no 2023 awards ceremony is complete without a disagreement of some sort. What do you do, though, if you're the host?
When you're Mo Gilligan, you stay out of it.
Since there are no female nominees for best artist, he will be hosting the Brit Awards for the second time on Saturday.
Mo asserts to BBC Newsbeat that he believes the "powers that be" are responsible for selecting the nominees.
"I'm not here to voice my opinions; my job is to host the proceedings.
I'm fair," he claims.
It's also the second year for the Best Artist Award, which the Brits introduced in 2022 in place of the previous Best Male and Best Female categories.
Mo is aware of the criticisms, and Newsbeat is not the only publication to have questioned him about them.
In a separate interview, he said to BBC music correspondent Mark Savage: "No one enters this business thinking, "I must win this award, I must be nominated for that.
The young children who are watching it are like, "Oh, I want to be like Adele or Beyoncé or, Sam Smith,' and they just want to be like their idols.
"Music is being celebrated here first.
However, the 34-year-old says he appreciates that musicians are speaking out. Music is a big part of his routines.
He assures Newsbeat that "they're being heard and their opinions are being listened to.".
"It's nice to be a part of a community of musicians who use their platform to express their opinions about society and life.
It's safe to say that Mo will draw a lot of attention when he takes the stage, criticism or not.
In addition, the comedian claims he would be lying if he claimed he wasn't anxious before Saturday.
This is a significant occasion for me and numerous other people, declares Mo.
The day I don't feel any nerves, in my opinion, is the day that this will become too routine. I think it's nice to have some nerves.
And how will the chat show host, who has won three Baftas, calm those nerves before the show?
There is nothing a small shot of tequila can't handle.
However, what has he discovered after hosting the British for the first time in 2022?
As opposed to last year, when he was "shouting a lot," Mo says he will "probably be a bit calmer.".
"I was merely thrilled to be on stage in front of 20,000 people. The fact that everyone had returned made it feel almost like a welcome back performance.
"A little more controlled chaos on my part is what you can anticipate.
Additionally, Mo claims that having presented the Brit Awards twice has increased his self-assurance regarding his drip.
According to him, he is wearing two different colors because he is also changing suits.
"I've always noticed that someone is always changing into a suit during the major award shows.
"Last year, I wasn't that confident in my ability to do it, but now that I've done one, I guess I am.
Even Mo gave Newsbeat some British insider information about the backstage "pamper room.".
"You can be treated, for instance, by getting a quick facial.
"You have to reserve it, but they have a whole room, it's really peaceful, and there's cool music.
Could Mo then be getting his nails done while Harry Styles is seated next to him before the performance?
I think even my toes, literally. The toes shouldn't be discounted.
