What features do Raye, Tom Holland, and Adele share?
They all attended the Brit School, which has given birth to some of the UK's top musicians and actors.
The performing arts academy is headquartered in London, though, like so many other things.
Currently, Bradford will get another one thanks to plans by the school's operator, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
The Brit School North, a new location in West Yorkshire, hopes to replicate its success in London if it is granted government approval.
And according to Hibah Amaan, one of the city center residents BBC Newsbeat spoke with, the new school may produce "the Bradford Adele.".
You might be surprised to learn that the city has produced some fairly well-known artists if this was your initial reaction to learning about the plans.
Bradford natives Zayn Malik and Bad Boy Chiller Crew were drawn to the city's cultural scene, according to Brit School administrators.
It could add some much-needed balance to the UK arts scene, says city-born DJ and producer Nia Archives to BBC Newsbeat.
She claims that she believes the music and creative industries are heavily centered in London.
"Therefore, I believe it would be fantastic if young people in the north had the chance to enter the industry. ".
Nia, who was just nominated for a Brits Rising Star Award, was born and raised in Leeds and later moved to Manchester when she was 16 years old.
In the end, she claims, she moved to London to further her career.
"But I do believe that if there had been some kind of resource or opportunities or like, you know, workshops, I could have defiantly gotten in a lot earlier," the author says.
Therefore, I believe that for young people, a program like Brit School in Bradford, in the north, would be really amazing and important, and it would remove barriers. ".
Rappers in the area Kenzo and Jack are aware of barriers.
According to Kenzo, Bradford has a bad reputation and people might think we're not as good as the rest of the nation.
"And if creatives and artists are in the South, they'll fare much better. With the Brit School coming up, we can show off our skills. ".
There is a sizable creative scene in Bradford that nobody talks about, Jack continues. There are numerous performances by musicians, artists, and productions.
"Obviously, everyone wants to pursue their own interests, but I believe that programs like the Brit School could be extremely beneficial for those attempting to work in that sector. ".
GK from the Bad Boy Chiller Crew, also known as Gareth Kelly, claims that the group is aware of the value of being independent.
Before their songs began to receive significant airplay, they began as "musical pranksters," posting tracks on Facebook and Snapchat.
Now, they have performed millions of plays and are Brit Award nominees, touring the nation to sold-out audiences.
GK, however, claims that the boys of the Chiller Crew "never had that chance to go to a school, we had to do it ourselves, what these schools do - put people on platforms and help them.".
So when he heard the news, he claims to have been "gobsmacked.".
The British School is a very big deal.
"I think it's a great idea. It's great for those who want to play this kind of game, and obviously it's great for my Bradford neighbors as well. ".
- Being a comprehensive school supported by the government, attendance is free.
- Only 10% of the school's students come from outside the London area.
- You can study technical topics related to backstage operations as well as topics like game design, so it's not just for actors.
- The school maintains that it is not selective; when Newsbeat spoke to the principal in 2017, he said they "see pretty much everyone who applies.".
- The school has come under fire for allegedly prioritizing mainstream pop artists over artists from other genres.
- Former students who have achieved success have also been charged with having an unfair advantage over others.
Read on to learn why The Brit School is more than a fame school.
The Bradford Brit School's administrators anticipate welcoming its first students in 2026, assuming they are granted permission to do so.
GK and Nia both have insight for aspiring artists until then.
GK says, "There are obstacles as well as great strides.".
If you're passionate about something, don't give up. The world is yours to possess; just take it. ".
And Nia adds, "Be egotistical. Create what you want to, hear what you want to, and see what you want to.
And just keep moving forward because, if you truly love something, you shouldn't give up on it. ".
