In Leicester, an exhibition marking Shakespeare's First Folio's 400th birthday will open.
The University of Leicester announced that it intended to hold the occasion at the David Wilson Library through April 24.
The first collection of William Shakespeare's plays to be published was called the First Folio, and it was released in 1623.
The exhibition will feature items from the university's special collections and archives.
The university does not own a First Folio, but it does possess an original Fourth Folio from 1685 and a 1776 copy of King Lear that has been annotated with remarks by renowned English actor David Garrick.
The university stated that the exhibition would look at Shakespeare's collection of classical works, historical accounts, religious texts, and philosophical writings that influenced and inspired his dramatic and poetic works.
"The goals of this exhibition are to highlight the connections between Shakespeare's work and the works of others, as well as showcase the rare items held at the University of Leicester's special collections," said Dr. Christina Wolf of the Centre for International Training and Education (CITE), which worked on the exhibition.
"The exhibition honors the 400th anniversary of the Folio's publication as well as the modern-day editing efforts of Shakespeare. ".
Every day from 09:30 to 16:30 GMT, the free exhibition will be accessible.
