In order to raise money for a $3 million renovation project, a theater is raising ticket prices.
All tickets costing more than £10 are subject to an additional £1.50 fee from Ipswich Regent Theatre.
The 1929 variety hall that is now a Grade II listed art deco building was purchased by Ipswich Borough Council from the Gaumont chain in 1989.
Improved restrooms, easier access for the disabled, and a bigger bar area are all part of the restoration plans.
The location, which has 1,551 seats and is the largest indoor theater in the East of England, presents a varied schedule of entertainment, including talks, comedy, and music.
Buddy Holly, The Beatles, and the Rolling Stones are a few well-known musical acts who have performed there.
The project aims to "revive and restore some of the stunning art deco features of the building to their former glory" and adds more open spaces for customers.
The Suffolk Regent Theatre has nearly a century of history and is the center of live entertainment in Suffolk, according to Sophie Connelly, portfolio holder for culture for the Labour-controlled council.
"Investment is needed to ensure that our facilities are updated and modernized so that customers have the best possible experience.
"This restoration levy on theatergoers' tickets will raise money to fund improvements, ensuring that The Regent remains a pleasurable Ipswich experience for another 100 years. ".
The council declared that the additional £1.50 would be "ring-fenced for theater renovation, upkeep, and improvement."
