Having been told she has terminal cancer, a mother who lost her youngest son in a caravan fire claims she has been given months to live.
Erin Harvey, 30, has a rare form of cancer. Before Zac was killed three years ago, Erin Harvey lost a son as an infant after he was born prematurely.
Her two surviving sons, one of whom was seriously injured in the fire, have received birthday and wedding cards from Erin.
She predicted that they would soon lose their mother after already losing their brothers.
The hardest part of the situation is simply realizing that I won't be around to watch them mature. ".
Erin is putting her energy into making her remaining time enjoyable for her sons Harley, 8, and Alex, 13, and she also has plans to wed partner Dan before she passes away.
Erin, a native of Ceredigion in central Wales, stated, "We want to have a nice big celebration with all our family and friends.".
"We want to take Harley to Legoland. We have a camper van, so we'll take any opportunity to travel and create memories while we're between rounds of chemotherapy.
"And we're hoping for one last joyous Christmas with the entire family.
Making the most of the time we have left is my current top priority. I'm just not thinking about all the things we won't get to do or all the things I'll miss. ".
Erin, who has been chronicling her battle with cancer on TikTok, and Dan, her soon-to-be husband, had been trying for a child; however, they hope to move the wedding up to this year.
Erin said, "I've been making the boys' scrapbooks and buying birthday cards all the way up to their 21st birthdays in an effort to divert myself by doing constructive things.
"I've made cards for their weddings and for when they pass their driving tests, too.
"I'm just concentrating on the present and trying to give the kids the most normal-looking next few months that we can. Because I don't want them to see me constantly upset, I must maintain my composure for them. ".
Tyler, Erin's second child, died in December 2012 at the age of just a few months after experiencing a cardiac arrest. Tyler had health issues as a result of his early birth.
Zac, Erin's youngest child and fourth child overall, passed away at age three while spending the night with his father Shaun. He had suffered smoke inhalation in a caravan fire that most likely started in January 2020 as a result of an electric fan heater.
Harley, Zac's older brother, was airlifted to Bristol in a critical condition when the fire broke out, and he sustained life-altering injuries. He received six weeks of treatment in a hospital and was not expected to survive, but he is now doing well.
Currently, Erin, a support worker for disabled adults from Pontrhydfendigaid in Ceredigion, has been identified as having stage 4 ampullary cancer, a rare form of the disease affecting the digestive system.
Erin underwent surgery to remove the tumor, but the cancer has since spread. As a result, friends have launched an online campaign to raise money for the family to "make magical memories.".
Erin said, "I've been told it's terminal and I have months rather than years to live.".
"I don't think anyone thinks they'd have that conversation with their kids about this situation, especially not when they're 30 years old and still so young with a lot of growing up to do.
"Alex has already lost two brothers during his lifetime, and I think it will be especially difficult for them because they have been so close since the fire.
"The other day I had to talk to Alex about the terminal diagnoses and tried not to cry, but I did.
Finding the right balance between what we can control and what we can't because we don't have that control will be difficult.
"Everyone close to me is in pain, and it's terrible to see people so upset while realizing that there is nothing I can do to make them feel better. ".
