Students at a school in Devon took part in a "color run" to show their support for a classmate who became the UK's youngest liver transplant survivor.
When she was only five weeks old, Torquay, Devon resident Lottie Bryon-Edmond underwent a liver transplant in 2011.
As part of her efforts to raise money for a planned memorial to organ donors that will be built at Torbay Hospital, Lottie, now 11 years old, held the event at Stover Prep School, close to Newton Abbot.
A color run is a 5 km (3 mi) non-timed event in which participants are doused with colored powder at each 1 km mark.
All students from kindergarten through sixth grade participated in the event.
Lottie underwent her transplant after being diagnosed with neonatal hemochromatosis, which results in the liver accumulating toxic amounts of iron.
About the fundraising, she said, "I just wanted to give a thank you to everyone who has been saving people's lives.
"When Torbay Hospital made the decision to create a memorial, I felt I should assist them. ".
She is an "inspirational child who has worked so hard," according to her father Chris Bryon-Edmond.
She shouldn't be here, he remarked. Before the transplant, they told us she had two weeks to live. But as of right now, she is just a regular kid doing extraordinary things. ".
Earlier this year, the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust appointed Lottie as an honorary director.
She received the honor, according to trust executives, because she had been "doing an amazing job raising awareness of the importance of organ donation."
