A revised pay offer from Manx Care will be put to a vote among nurses on the Isle of Man.
A vote among Royal College of Nursing (RCN) members was already underway to determine whether they would support a strike.
After a previous offer of a 2 percent pay increase on top of the 4 percent award given in October, along with an unconsolidated lump sum payment of £300, was turned down, that was the final offer.
A combined lump sum payment of £1,000 has been suggested in the new offer from the healthcare organization.
Nurses initially requested a 15 percent pay increase for the years 2021–2022 and 2022–2023; the pay dispute has persisted for nearly two years.
The union's 500 island-wide members will now be asked to participate in an online pay consultation from June 12 through June 21.
There will also be a postal poll conducted until June 21 asking members if they support industrial action.
The union did not "want any further delays for action should members vote to reject this latest offer," according to an RCN spokeswoman, so the second vote on the pay offer would take place concurrently.
"Our members have waited a long time to be asked if they were willing to take strike action," said Paul Wood, RCN operations manager for the north west. ".
The best course of action, he continued, "was to allow our members to vote on strike action and their pay."
