A nine-year-old boy has welcomed a new baby brother after overcoming an aggressive form of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
For more than two years, Worcester resident Oscar Saxelby-Lee has been cancer-free.
Jacob Saxelby-Lee was welcomed into the family on June 14th, according to a social media post by his mother Olivia Saxelby.
Ms. Saxelby said of Oscar, "There's just no one else a little brother could look up to more.".
"We experienced a lovely home birth. Dot was born in the sea. "It was a truly magical experience," Ms. Saxelby told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
Oscar, who is incredibly loving and caring, has handled it well. She continued, "It was one of his wishes.
More than £700,000 was raised to assist Oscar with his treatment as a result of the thousands of people who followed his journey.
He has done a fantastic job adjusting to the role of big brother, according to Ms. Saxelby.
Ms. Saxelby added that since Jacob's ear defect was discovered at birth, things had been a "whirlwind.".
On the Facebook group Hand In Hand for Oscar, she wrote, "We really believed life had already dealt our family enough blows and there couldn't quite possibly be anything else on the cards for us.".
His referral to Birmingham Children's Hospital has been approved, but the family is unsure of "to what extent he can hear us yet.".
"Our family is now complete," she wrote at the end of the post.
