The deaths of patients at a hospital in Brighton are being looked into by the police.
According to Sussex Police, a five-year investigation into claims of medical malpractice at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, East Sussex, is ongoing.
The allegations center on purported errors in general surgery and neurosurgery that occurred between 2015 and 2020.
The trust declared that it was fully cooperating with the inquiry.
While some reports indicated that there were "about 40" deaths under investigation, the police and hospital trust were unable to confirm this.
Following an inspection that was prompted by whistleblowers, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) downgraded the hospital to "requires improvement" in May.
According to the police, there have been claims of medical malpractice at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. These claims are currently being investigated by Sussex Police.
"In the years between 2015 and 2020, general surgery and neurosurgery are the topics of concern. .
