The day of the wedding was recreated on the ward so that a terminally ill mother could watch it via FaceTime.
Just before her son Ian's wedding, Jillian Crossland, 70, of Nottingham, broke her hip after falling at home.
The Queen's Medical Center staff attempted to get Ms. Crossland well enough to travel in person, but she was too ill.
The Trauma and Orthopaedics team assisted her in watching the event and embellished a ward space.
The team assisted Ms. Crossland with getting ready, and when her sister Janet and niece Vanessa showed up to take her to the ward's decorated family room, guests at the wedding could also watch her entrance via FaceTime, they also helped her get ready.
"We did think about calling off the wedding, but we decided to go ahead after getting assurances from mom's care team that they could still make it special for her," said son Ian.
"It made my day because this was the next best thing because I was feeling bad about getting married without my mother being there. ".
The groom and his new wife Natasha showed up for official pictures on the flower-decorated ward balcony on the Saturday following the wedding in full wedding attire.
The moment Jillian entered that room and noticed the effort we had made to make it as special as we could, according to Hannah Shaw, a ward sister in Trauma and Orthopaedics, "I've never seen Jillian smile so much.
It was an honor to be able to give something so little to the family and Jillian because it meant so much to them.
