To assist kids with cancer in Shropshire, a new program is being introduced.
The funding for the project comes from local fundraising efforts to send Zac Oliver, who is four years old, to the US for ground-breaking treatment.
In spite of having a rare form of leukemia, he has been cancer-free since he turned nine in 2019.
At the time, donations from all over the nation poured in, including £50,000 from Simon Cowell.
Zac, a Broseley resident, gained national attention after his family launched a fundraising effort to raise £500,000 so he could travel to Philadelphia for the life-saving treatment.
His mother Hannah Oliver-Willets expressed her joy that the funds raised by so many kind and generous people would now be able to assist more kids.
Later this year, the Shropshire Community Foundation will introduce the Zac's Fund program, which will give children and young people under the age of 21 financial support.
Although awards may be given to candidates from outside the county in exceptional circumstances, the fund will primarily serve Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin.
Shropshire Community Foundation spokeswoman Sonia Roberts said the organization was honored to manage Zac's Fund.
"We think that over time the amount we will distribute will exceed the value of the fund itself, giving a lasting legacy for Zac and the chance to support many more kids and families who are going through a similar situation," she said.
"The funds in Zac's Fund will be kept, with only the extra money being distributed to people in need.
