A new school will accept students with needs for their social, emotional, and mental health.
As a primary school, Melksham House is anticipated to open the following year.
It comes after a previous declaration that Wiltshire will house a 130-student special education school.
In order to accommodate 350 students with a high level of service, Silverwood School is also making an additional investment to expand the current campus.
According to the business case for the council, the process would result in significant annual revenue savings, which would free up funds for important services.
After the Melksham Community Campus opened its doors last year, this project represents yet another significant investment in the town.
Melksham Town Council has been formally informed of the plans by Wiltshire Council, who also intends to engage in frank discussion with them soon about the future of the defunct Blue Pool site.
The need for special education needs places is increasing nationwide, and Wiltshire is no exception, according to councilwoman Laura Mayes, the cabinet member for education and skills.
"We are considering long-term options in the county that will address the need, and I'm happy we can transform this Melksham landmark into something that is truly inspirational and will offer a fantastic space for all students. ".
The cabinet member for special educational needs, councillor Jane Davies, continued, "All children have a right to an education that can help them fulfil their potential in a setting that works best for them and helps them to thrive.
"Our business plan specifically states that we will identify the best specialist support for kids with special needs.
