To help kids comprehend and deal with the effects of the Russia-Ukraine war, a Ukrainian music teacher has written and illustrated a book of poems.
Nadia Sadoviak, a native of Newbury, Berkshire, claimed that the book was assisting youngsters in her native country in "coping with a situation they can barely understand.".
In the book, "Brave Goose" is depicted in a variety of disguises and settings, including those of a volunteer and a doctor.
Ms. Sadoviak said, "I constantly consider how I can support kids.
I constantly look for fresh ways to engage with them and spread goodwill, she continued.
"Although it is impossible to find anything positive to say about the terrible situation in Ukraine, I have heard nothing but good things about how helpful the children there are finding this book to help them deal with a situation they can hardly comprehend. ".
In order to share it with as many Ukrainian children living in Berkshire as possible, Ms. Sadoviak has now had copies made in the UK.
She is originally from Ivano Frankivsk, in western Ukraine, and has been teaching music for 25 years. Three years ago, she began painting, using a method called neurographic art, which she claims can stimulate new neural pathways by fusing art and psychology.
The book launch for Ms. Sadoviak is scheduled for June 14 at Newbury Library.
"Nadia is a regular visitor there [the library] and has helped many people through her art at our weekly Educafe sessions," said Janine Lewis, the West Berkshire Council's lead for culture, leisure, sport, and countryside.
As we recently received Library of Sanctuary status in recognition of our efforts to welcome and assist refugees and other people seeking refuge, it also seems particularly appropriate that she should launch her book here.
