The board of the Irish national broadcaster, RTÉ, has suspended its director general, Dee Forbes.
It follows RTÉ's admission that one of its most prominent presenters, Ryan Tubridy, received €345,000 (£296,800) more in compensation than had been disclosed.
According to the board, there are "processes ongoing and RTÉ must be mindful of its legal obligations and individuals' rights.".
RTÉ stated, "RTÉ will not be commenting further on this matter at this time.".
The RTÉ board reported on Thursday that Mr. Tubridy received the payments between 2017 and 2022.
The payments were discovered as a result of auditors' concerns.
The Late Late Show host Mr. Tubridy recently stepped down from his position.
He also hosts a radio show for RTE, though he skipped presenting it on Friday morning because of the controversy.
Former RTÉ board chair Moya Doherty claimed that none of the board's members, including herself, had "knowledge relating to certain payments" made by the broadcaster and the "profoundly serious lack of transparency involved.".
The issues "get to the core of a failure of good corporate governance," she continued.
Before her term ended in November 2022, she claimed that she was not informed of the payments made to Mr. Tubridy.
Kevin Bakhurst, a former senior BBC News editor, was appointed as RTÉ's new director general in April.
The following month, Mr. Bakhurst will succeed Ms. Forbes.
