The identities of the 16 senior citizens who died in a highway collision in Manitoba have been made public by Canadian police.

Last week, a bus collision with a lorry on the Trans-Canada Highway near Carberry, two hours west of Winnipeg, resulted in 15 fatalities.

Wednesday saw the passing of a second victim from her wounds.

According to RCMP Supt. Jeff Asmundson on Thursday, "The impact of this loss will be felt for a very long time.".

With serious injuries, nine patients remain in the hospital.

From Dauphin, Manitoba, and the surrounding areas, the majority of the elderly passengers on the bus came. They were en route to the Sand Hills Casino in Carberry.

At a news conference in Dauphin, Supt. Asmundson said, "Hearts are broken, families are grieving, and a community is feeling immeasurable loss.".

It will likely take months to complete the intricate investigation into the fatal collision.

One of the worst tragedies to ever occur in the province, the collision took place on June 15 at 11:43 local time (17:35 BST).

Dashcam video appears to show that the bus entered the road against the semi-trailer lorry's right of way, but police have said it is too soon to determine who is to blame for the incident.

One of those taken to the hospital was one of the two drivers of the two vehicles.
