According to reports, a man in India was able to stay in the city of Delhi's five-star hotel for nearly two years without paying the bill.
Managers at the Roseate House near the Delhi airport reported the apparent scam to police after they learned of it 603 days into the man's stay.
He is said to owe the hotel more than 5 million rupees (£55,000; $70,00).
According to the complaint, the man conspired with employees to conceal the mounting bills. There have been no arrests.
Details of the case have only recently surfaced in the local media, despite the fact that Delhi police were notified of it on May 24.
The unidentified man is said to have arrived at the hotel on May 30, 2019, after making a one-night reservation, and he is said to have stayed there until January 22, 2022, according to the Indian Express newspaper.
The report also claims that one of the employees kept extending his stay despite the fact that he did not pay.
It is alleged that this was accomplished by switching one bill for another or messing with the bills of other guests.
There have been no given names.
If a guest owes the hotel more than 50,000 rupees, the staff is required to inform the seniors and pressure the guest for payment. The newspaper was told by a senior police officer that this wasn't done.
