Ryan Tubridy, an Irish TV host, received €345,000 (£296,800) more in compensation than was disclosed, the country's public broadcaster RTÉ has acknowledged.
The RTÉ board reported on Thursday that Mr. Tubridy received the payments between 2017 and 2022.
The payments were discovered as a result of auditors' concerns.
The host of the Late Late Show, the presenter, recently resigned.
According to the board of RTÉ, it has since updated the public record and published accurate earnings information for Mr. Tubridy.
It stated that Mr. Tubridy received a number of payments totaling €345,000 over what was disclosed between 2017 and 2022.
The review, according to the board, revealed that Mr. Tubridy was promised an additional €75,000 in annual income by RTÉ under a different contract that was supposed to be paid by a business partner.
According to a statement from the board, a payment was made by a business partner in exchange for several personal appearances.
According to the statement, "as part of this agreement, RTÉ also issued a credit note to the commercial partner, thereby reducing the cost to it of its overall sponsorship arrangement with the organization.".
"The commercial partner did not extend this contract for a second year, and since the contract was guaranteed and underwritten by RTÉ, RTÉ made the payments directly to Mr. Tubridy's agent (on his behalf). ".
As a result, Mr. Tubridy received two payments in 2022 for both that year and the year before, totaling €150,000.
The board claimed that between 2017 and 2019, the host of the Late Late Show received €120,000 more from RTÉ than had been disclosed to the public.
The board added that it has reviewed the compensation of its top 10 highest paid on-air presenters and stated that it is looking into the reasons for this.
All of the contracts with those on-air presenters, it claimed, had been accurately reported.
It stated, "The board is committed to ensuring that there is appropriate accountability for what has occurred.
That procedure is ongoing, considerate of people's rights, and provides them with a fair trial.
The board added that measures have now been put in place to guarantee that these issues won't happen again.
"The RTÉ Board considers the public mis-statement of RTÉ's financial information to be a very serious matter and has moved as quickly as it could, once it had independently established the facts, to publish the correct figures," the statement read.
