Cute photos of the newest addition to Dudley Zoo's sloth family show a baby sloth cuddling up to its mother.
The unnamed two-toed sloth pup was born at the Castle Hill attraction two weeks ago.
It is the second child to be born to the zoo's sloth couple, Flo and Reggie, who already have a young child named Button who is one year old.
The zoo's Pat Stevens stated that the staff was "really happy" to have discovered a compatible breeding pair.
The infant is a Linnaeus's two-toed sloth, one of two types of sloths, so named because of the two long, curved claws at the ends of each of its limbs.
The species is native to South American rainforests, but habitat loss and deforestation have caused a decline in population.
Baby sloths crawl onto their mother's stomach and stay there for the following six months after birth as the animals give birth while hanging upside down.
According to Ms Stevens, "the baby is alert and just like the first time, Flo is taking motherhood all in stride.".
While Button is currently keeping to herself, we've made sure she gets a few extra treats now that she's a big sister. We've seen Reggie come over for a sniff of the baby. ".
The new arrival's gender has not yet been determined, and the zoo's keepers are still deciding on a name.
