Manchester City finances: Key supporter on how fees affect the team and the fans

In spite of the alleged financial rule violations, a key member of Manchester City's official supporters club says he will continue to support the team and admits that their accomplishments would be "tainted" if they were found guilty.

More than 100 financial rule violations have been alleged by the Premier League against City.

The supporters' club's general secretary, Kevin Parker, said he would be "disappointed" if the allegations were true but that he would still support the team "the day before the verdict and the day after it.".

Charges against City, which the Abu Dhabi United Group acquired in 2008, pertain to the years 2009 to 2018, when the club won three of its six Premier League championships.

Due to alleged rule violations between 2009 and 2018, the Premier League referred the club to an impartial commission.

The charges are backed by a "body of irrefutable evidence," according to City, who claimed to be "surprised" by them.

Parker stated on the podcast for The Sports Desk, "I have faith in the football team.

"After being given the chance to claim innocence or not, the club has stated that they are innocent.

"Would I be disappointed? Of course, since a portion of my faith in what this club is doing right now will have been shattered.

"I'll continue to be a City supporter and fan both the day before and the day after the verdict.

Providing "accurate financial information that gives a true and fair view of the club's financial position," according to Premier League regulations, was a breach, the league claimed on Monday.

Additionally, it claimed that City had refused to assist ever since the investigation began in December 2018.

The commission has the authority to impose penalties, which can include expulsion from the Premier League as well as fines and point deductions.

If the club is found guilty, "[the accomplishments] will be tainted," Parker continued.

"If anything, as a supporter of City, I hope it has this mentality to unite everyone.

"Nobody can take away some of the special moments we've had, no matter what may occur in the future.

Nobody can take those incredible moments away from us, regardless of what occurs off the field.

In a statement, City stated that it "welcomes the review of this matter by an independent commission, to fairly consider the substantial body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.

As a result, we eagerly await the final resolution of this issue.
