A local government is perplexed after its Facebook page vanished.
According to Dorset Council, the page disappeared on June 15 "without warning or explanation.".
Despite "numerous" attempts to fix the issue and contacts with Facebook's parent company Meta, it claimed to have been unable to pinpoint the issue.
There was "no evidence," the council affirmed, that the page had been hacked. A comment from Meta has been requested.
The organization issued a statement in which it said: "Facebook is an important communications and engagement channel for Dorset Council, with over 33,000 followers on the page at the time of its disappearance.
"In the hopes that the page will be restored as soon as possible, we will keep requesting more information from Meta. ".
In the interim, individuals are advised to "in the first instance" get in touch with Dorset Council through its website.
The public was thanked for their "patience and understanding" by a council spokesperson who also claimed that none of the organization's other social media accounts had been impacted.
